Sweden fails to form majority government

Sweden will continue its failure in having majority government as the elections held on September failed to provide majority. Prime Minister Fredrick Reinfeldt coalition party will have 173 seats from the total of 349 seats, where only two less votes did not give majority to Reinfeldt, opposition will have 156 seats while Democrats will have 20 seats.

Thus, the current minority governments will have to cooperate with opposition parties to pass legislations except for budget laws which can only be rejected if a majority managed to introduce an alternative proposal.

It is worth noting, Sweden had been forming minority governments since 1971 except for the coalition government that came in 1976.
